Galatasaray emerge as the favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek in January, according to a report.

Galatasaray have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek during the January transfer window.

The Netherlands international was widely expected to leave Old Trafford over the summer, but the market closed with the midfielder still at the club.

Van de Beek was also linked with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey in the latter stages of their transfer windows, but a move away from Manchester could not be agreed.

The 26-year-old has only featured twice for the Red Devils this term despite the team's injury problems, with his sole Premier League outing coming late on against Crystal Palace at the end of September.

Van de Beek has not even been on the bench for Man United's last three league games, while he was not registered for the group stage of the Champions League.

The Dutchman seemingly does not have a future at Old Trafford, and he is set to leave the club when the January transfer window opens for business.

According to Fichajes, Galatasaray have emerged as the favourites to secure his signature at the start of 2024.

The report claims that Inter Milan and Real Sociedad are also showing an interest, but the Turkish giants are the team currently working on a deal during the winter market.

Van de Beek arrived at Man United in September 2020 off the back of a successful spell at Ajax, but he has found it difficult to make his mark for the 20-time English champions.

The midfielder has only managed two goals and two assists in 62 appearances for Man United, while he also had an unsuccessful loan spell at Everton in the second half of the 2021-22 season.

Van de Beek's struggles have cost him a spot in the Netherlands squad, and he is believed to be keen to secure a move away from Old Trafford to reignite his career.

The midfielder has a contract with the Red Devils until June 2025, with the option of a further year, although he is unlikely to command a high transfer fee.

Galatasaray and Man United will lock horns in the Champions League at the end of the month, with the two teams battling for a spot in the last-16 stage of the competition.

Man United are bottom of Group A, one point behind third-placed Galatasaray, who are level on four points with second-placed Copenhagen in a fascinating section. body check tags ::
