Mason Greenwood's career at Manchester United allegedly has a small chance of being revived ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Mason Greenwood's Manchester United career could allegedly be revived this summer, although the subject has reportedly not yet been discussed by the club's incoming minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Having been informed last summer that his time at Man United was over, the forward moved on loan to Getafe, and he has impressed for the La Liga outfit during the 2023-24 campaign.

The 22-year-old had scored five goals and registered four assists in 19 appearances for the capital club, including three goals and four assists in 16 La Liga appearances.

Greenwood has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2025, though, and as it stands, he will be heading back to his parent club this summer, where a big decision on his future will need to be made.

Getafe have already expressed a desire to sign him permanently, while Real Madrid and Barcelona are also both believed to be interested in securing his services on a long-term basis.

According to Goal, Getafe are not in a position to sign him, with the club unable to afford a deal which is likely to cost at least €40m (£34.2m), while they would not be able to offer him a substantial salary.

The report claims that Man United are not expecting Greenwood to play for them again, but there is 'a small chance' that the stance could be reversed.

Ratcliffe's deal to purchase 25% of the Red Devils will be ratified in February, and the British billionaire is likely to be heavily involved in a decision on Greenwood's future this summer.

Late last year, respected journalist Jamie Jackson suggested that it was not impossible for Greenwood to turn out for Man United again, although he accepted that it was highly unlikely.

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greenwood was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but there is no longer a case against him, and he was allowed to resume his career during the 2023-24 campaign.

Man United had allegedly decided to bring him back into their squad last summer but then changed their minds at the final moment due to the public backlash.

The forward has 35 goals and 12 assists in 129 matches for Man United in all competitions, with his last outing for the club coming against West Ham United in January 2022.

Before his arrest, Greenwood was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, and he made his senior debut for England against Iceland in September 2020. body check tags ::
