Manchester United captain Harry Maguire could reportedly leave Old Trafford on loan this summer.
The 30-year-old has struggled for regular action this term, and he will end the 2022-23 Premier League campaign with just 16 appearances to his name in the competition.
Maguire is behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order for the starting roles in the middle of the Man United defence, while Luke Shaw has also been picked ahead of him as a centre-back during the current season.
The England international was named in the starting XI for Sunday's Premier League clash against Fulham at Old Trafford, but he will almost certainly be back on the bench for the FA Cup final against Manchester City, with Lindelof set to partner Varane in the middle.
Another season with limited action could cost Maguire on the international front, with his starting role at the European Championship in 2024 far from secure.
Man United are also expected to bring in another centre-back this summer, with Napoli's Kim Min-jae said to be a target, which would push Maguire further down the pecking order.
The experienced defender continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, but his £200,000-a-week wage packet will make it difficult for clubs to sign him.
According to GiveMeSport, a loan exit is most likely at this stage, with the Englishman potentially given the opportunity to rebuild his reputation in Italian football.
The report claims that Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus are all keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding the Man United captain ahead of the summer window.
There is also said to be Premier League interest from Newcastle United and West Ham United, while Fulham and Crystal Palace are being kept informed of any developments.
Maguire's boyhood club Sheffield United will also play in the Premier League next season, although it is highly unlikely that the Blades will be in a position to compete for his signature.
The centre-back made the move to Old Trafford from Leicester City in August 2019, and he has featured on 175 occasions for the Red Devils, scoring seven goals and registering five assists.
Man United have already confirmed that Phil Jones will be leaving following the expiration of his contract next month, while Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe are also set to leave the 20-time English champions this summer as part of a defensive clear-out. body check tags ::
