Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly agreed personal talks with Paris Saint-Germain but still favours a move to Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.
The 20-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, having impressed during his first season at Atalanta BC, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances following his arrival from Sturm Graz last year.
Man United view Hojlund as their number one attacking target this summer, with the 20-time English champions said to have made their first offer on Wednesday, with the bid said to be worth €50m (£42.8m) plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons.
PSG, meanwhile, have also now allegedly made an offer, placing a bid of €50m (£43m) on the table.
The French champions are not said to be prepared to go above that fee, meaning that an agreement with Atalanta is unlikely, as the Italian side are thought to have their own valuation of €70m (£60m) plus bonuses.
Man United have already allegedly come to an agreement with the youngster over personal terms, with the 20-time English champions keen to secure his signature as soon as possible.
However, according to RMC Sport, Hojlund has also agreed a wage packet with PSG, who are thought to be offering a better financial deal than Erik ten Hag's side.
The Paris club's offer is not expected to be enough for Atalanta, though, meaning that a switch to the French capital at this stage of proceedings is still thought to be unlikely.
PSG are still thought to be keeping an eye on Harry Kane's situation at Tottenham Hotspur, while Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic continues to be linked with a move to the club.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United remain the favourites for Hojlund despite the presence of PSG in the race.
Romano claims that the English giants could hold fresh discussions with Atalanta this week if their opening bid for the centre-forward proves to be unsuccessful.
Hojlund started his professional career with Copenhagen, but he only managed five goals in 32 appearances for the club before making the move to Sturm Graz.
The forward netted 12 goals and registered four assists in his 21 outings for Sturm Graz, which led to Atalanta bringing him to Italy during last summer's transfer window. body check tags ::
