Juventus have reportedly emerged as genuine contenders to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood during this summer's transfer window.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Getafe in Spain, and he has impressed for the La Liga outfit this season, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in the process.

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the Englishman's future, as Man United's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently suggested that the door was still open for Greenwood at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe said that he will look at "the real facts" before making a call on the forward, who has not represented the 20-time English champions since January 2022.

Two years ago, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The Englishman was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped last February.

Man United are believed to have decided last summer to bring Greenwood back into their set-up before being forced to change their mind due to the public backlash.

As a result, the forward was sent on loan to Getafe, and he has scored six times and registered five assists in 24 La Liga outings during the 2023-24 campaign.

Man United will allegedly not be loaning Greenwood out for another campaign, as his contract is due to expire in June 2025, so he will either leave permanently this summer or return to the squad.

Atletico Madrid are believed to be interested, but suggestions that Barcelona are keen on securing his signature this summer have cooled.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have emerged as contenders for the forward, with the Old Lady viewing him as the ideal signing during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that the Italian giants are attracted by Greenwood's versatility, with the Englishman capable of operating in a number of different positions in the final third of the field.

The forward has represented Man United on 129 occasions in all competitions, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists, and he was regarded as one of the best youngsters in world football before his arrest.

England boss Gareth Southgate recently suggested that the door would be open for Greenwood in the future to potentially return to the national side. body check tags ::
