Manchester United have reportedly decided that they will not send English forward Mason Greenwood out on loan for another season.

Having been informed that he had no future at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old was sent on loan to Getafe last summer, and he has impressed for the La Liga outfit during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in the process.

Getafe president Angel Torres recently claimed that Greenwood wants to spend "another year" with the capital outfit, as he rebuilds his career following a period out of the game.

However, according to The Sun, Man United are not interested in another loan deal for their academy product, who only has a contract at Old Trafford until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The report claims that the Red Devils will either sell Greenwood or bring him back into their first team, with the club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently suggesting that the door was still open for the forward to rebuild his career at Old Trafford.

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The forward was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped last February, allowing him to resume his career during the 2023-24 campaign.

Man United had allegedly decided to bring Greenwood back into their squad last summer before being forced into a U-turn due to the public backlash.

Before his arrest, the forward was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, and he has represented the Red Devils on 129 occasions in all competitions, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists.

Greenwood's last appearance for the club came in January 2022 against West Ham United, and it had been thought that he would be sold last summer, but a loan deal with Getafe was eventually agreed.

Ratcliffe has said that he will look at "the real facts" before making a final call on Greenwood, but it is still thought to be likely that the forward will leave Old Trafford permanently this summer.

Barcelona are allegedly not in the race despite the recent speculation, but Atletico Madrid are said to be genuine contenders to sign him at the end of the campaign.

England head coach Gareth Southgate recently opened the door for Greenwood to return to international duty at some stage in the future.

Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that Greenwood's teammates at Man United were open to him returning to the squad for the 2024-25 campaign.
