Liverpool and Bayern Munich could reportedly steal a march on Manchester United in the race for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho when the transfer window reopens.
Sancho was the talk of the transfer window regarding a potential move to Old Trafford, but the Red Devils refused to fork out Dortmund's asking price of £108m and he ultimately stayed put in Germany.
A host of top European sides were also credited with an interest in the England international during the summer window, and it now appears that United will face some stiff competition if they are to try to secure Sancho's signature next time around.
Indeed, The Independent claim that Sancho would prefer a move to Liverpool rather than Man United, and Jurgen Klopp is in a good position to push the Reds to move for the winger having already touched base with him.
The report also suggests that Sancho could follow in the footsteps of a number of players that have swapped Dortmund for fellow Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich over the years - namely Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski.
Despite failing in their pursuit of Sancho, United nevertheless clocked up a number of deadline day signings with the acquisitions of Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traore, the latter of whom will join in January.
