Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, with Manchester United also keen on the player.
The 26-year-old burst onto the international stage as Italy won the European Championships in 2021, scoring two goals in the tournament for Roberto Mancini's side.
In terms of club football, Chiesa has been plying his trade at Juventus for over three years now, having signed initially on a loan deal from Fiorentina in October 2020.
The 2023-24 campaign has been a relatively-productive one for the winger, who has found the net on seven occasions in 24 Serie A matches overall.
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini, a new player has joined the race for the signature of Chiesa ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report claims that Liverpool have firmed up their interest in the 46-time international, entering discussions with Juventus over a possible move.
This development follows previous news that Erik ten Hag's Man United were keen on a transfer for Chiesa, who has played his club football exclusively in Italy so far.
It is also understood that the Red Devils have considered signing the 26-year-old and appointing compatriot Antonio Conte, with the latter replacing Ten Hag in the managerial hotseat.
Jurgen Klopp's side have supposedly submitted an offer for the services of Chiesa, however the success of their initial bid is currently unknown.
It is understood that the Old Lady are looking to pocket at least £34m for the winger who has netted 29 times for the club since joining in late 2020.
With Juve hoping to balance the books in order to avoid financial punishments, Chiesa is an asset who could be offloaded during the upcoming window.
Additionally, the funds generated from the sale of the Euro 2020 winner could be used towards the acquisition of long-term target Mateo Retegui from Genoa.
Despite being 17 points behind first-placed Inter Milan in the Serie A standings, Chiesa and Juventus are still firmly in the race for a Champions League spot, sitting eight points ahead of fifth-placed Roma.
Following a run of one win in five league matches prior to the international break, Massimiliano Allegri's men will resume their campaign with a trip to Lazio on Saturday. body check tags ::
