Liverpool are reportedly preparing to rival Manchester United for the signature of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The England international is contracted to Marcelo Bielsa's side until the summer of 2024 but is rumoured to be stalling over a new deal at Elland Road.
As a result, Man United are supposedly seeking to take advantage with a swoop for Phillips next year, although he would still command a £60m fee.
Now, the Daily Star reports that Liverpool have also registered their interest in the 25-year-old, with Jurgen Klopp hoping to bring in midfield reinforcements next summer.
The report adds that Leeds are 'desperate' to tie Phillips down to a new deal, but owner Andrea Radrizzani is aware that the midfielder may not be able to resist the pull of Liverpool or Man United.
Phillips has registered 14 goals and 12 assists from 220 games across all competitions for Leeds and started 28 Premier League games for the Whites last term. body check tags ::
