Manchester United and Arsenal have seemingly been handed a boost in their efforts to add a new striker to their ranks this summer.

The two clubs have endured contrasting campaigns in the top half of the Premier League standings, Arsenal finishing as runners-up to Manchester City having taken the title race to the last day.

In the case of United, they have just posted their worst-ever finish in the division, only securing eighth spot despite a 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Nevertheless, both clubs find themselves in a position where they require a new forward for the 2024-25 campaign as they bid to improve on this season.

Although Arsenal can be delighted with Kai Havertz's first season at the Emirates Stadium, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah scored just nine goals between them in the Premier League.

As for United, Anthony Martial will be departing on a free transfer, leaving the Red Devils requiring a replacement to compete with Rasmus Hojlund.

Brobbey admits to transfer interest

Although Ajax parted ways with a number of star players last summer, Brian Brobbey was one of the high-profile names to remain in Amsterdam.

The 22-year-old has since featured in a dismal campaign for the Dutch giants, who finished fifth in the Eredivisie, but he impressed from an individual perspective.

A total of 22 goals and 12 assists came from 43 appearances in all competitions; the versatile attacker now has 49 strikes and 19 assists from his 119 outings in an Ajax shirt.

Despite Brobbey having three years left on his contract, Ajax's financial issues and only earning a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds means that sales will be necessary in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking in an interview with NOS Jeugdjournaal, Brobbey has acknowledged that he would be interested in signing for Arsenal or Man United, as well as Barcelona or Real Madrid.

He said: "Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium. A very nice club, but that also applies to Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid."

How much may Brobbey cost?

In an interview with Men's Health last month, Brobbey claimed he would be worth €80m (£68.4m) once he had featured for Netherlands at Euro 2024.

However, any interested clubs will point to Mohammed Kudus only costing in the region of £38m when he made the switch to West Ham United last summer.

Brobbey also has just the one cap for Netherlands, making it highly unlikely that any club would be willing to meet his self-proclaimed asking price.
