Manchester United are reportedly confident that they will be able to sign Marcus Rashford to a new long-term contract in the not too distant future.

Rashford struggled to make his mark for the Red Devils last term, managing only five goals and two assists in 31 appearances, and he was linked with a move away from the club over the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are believed to have made an attempt to sign him, but the 25-year-old ultimately remained at Old Trafford, and he has been in strong form this season.

Rashford has scored eight goals and registered three assists in 19 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2022-23 campaign.

The forward's impressive form led to him receiving a spot in the England squad at the World Cup, and he has scored three times for the Three Lions in Qatar.

Rashford scored off the bench in his side's Group B opener against Iran on November 21 before netting twice as a starter in the 3-0 win over Wales on Tuesday night.

The attacker's current deal at Man United is due to expire at the end of June, which has led to speculation surrounding his future.

However, the Red Devils have the option to activate a 12-month extension in the agreement, preventing him from being able to hold talks with foreign clubs at the start of 2023.

According to The Mirror, Man United are planning to extend the deal in order to give them more time to put a new long-term offer on the table.

The report claims that Erik ten Hag's side have no concerns over Rashford's future and are confident of signing him to a fresh agreement in the near future.

Rashford recently opened up on his happiness at the club this season under Ten Hag.

"I feel like I'm getting there. But, yeah, I'm a lot more happy, I'm enjoying myself a lot more," Rashford told PA. "I'm just looking forward to the games. The manager's a joy to work with, really. Is it hard work? Yeah, but I think we are enjoying it and we're playing better football.

"I feel like the players have integrated well and we're learning about each other more and more. But the team spirit is very high and we want to keep that going.

"I feel like when we don't concede goals, we've got a good chance of winning games because we're creating chances. We just need to finish them off, be a bit more clinical in front of goal."

The academy product scored his 100th Man United goal against West Ham United in the Premier League at the end of October. body check tags ::
