Manchester United could reportedly move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during this summer's transfer window.

The 28-year-old has again been in strong form for his Italian club during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering eight assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

The Serbia international made the move to Lazio from Genk in August 2015, and he has represented the White and Sky Blues on 338 occasions, scoring 67 goals and registering 59 assists.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the midfielder over the last few seasons, but Lazio have thus far refused to entertain offers for him.

Milinkovic-Savic's contract is due to expire next summer, though, and there is currently speculation surrounding his future, with a host of teams said to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

Arsenal and Newcastle United are being credited with an interest, but according to Corriere dello Sport, Man United are also keen, with the Red Devils previously linked with him a couple of years ago.

The report claims that Lazio could be prepared to accept offers of around €40m (£34.7m) for the midfielder, with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan also said to be in the mix.

Milinkovic-Savic has been capped on 41 occasions by Serbia, scoring seven times, and he represented his country three times at the 2022 World Cup.

Towards the end of last year, Lazio president Claudio Lotito said that he was not interested in selling the Serbian, but he is now believed to be refusing to sign a new contract.

"I will not sell Milinkovic-Savic, I will offer him a renewal. I reiterate, he is now worth €120m (£105m), and every month that passes, the price goes up," Lotito told Il Messaggero.

Milinkovic-Savic has scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 33 Serie A appearances this season, with Lazio currently sitting fourth in the table.

Man United signed both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer to boost their midfield, but the Red Devils are said to be keen to sign another player in that area of the field this summer.

Declan Rice remains a target, but the England international could cost as much as £100m from West Ham United, and Arsenal are said to be at the head of the queue for his services.

Man United are also planning to sign a new centre-forward this summer, with Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez, Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Napoli's Victor Osimhen all thought to be targets. body check tags ::
