Manchester United 'decide against permanent move for Sofyan Amrabat'

Manchester United decide against signing on-loan Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly not planning to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis during next summer's transfer window.

The Morocco international's future was the subject of much speculation over the summer, and he completed a loan move to Man United in the closing stages of the market.

The loan from Fiorentina is believed to be costing Erik ten Hag's side in the region of €10m (£8.6m), while there will allegedly be a purchase option worth €20m (£17.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons next summer.

The 27-year-old has been a regular for the 20-time English champions this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions, and he has played the full 90 minutes in each of their last three league matches against Chelsea, Bournemouth and Liverpool.

However, according to The Sun, Man United are not expected to turn his loan move into a permanent one during next summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Red Devils head coach Ten Hag is 'already planning' for next season without Amrabat, who was also linked with Liverpool during the summer market.

Man United are not believed to be convinced that Amrabat's style of football is suited to the Premier League, and a number of clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

Kobbie Mainoo's development is also allegedly another reason why Ten Hag would be happy for Amrabat to return to his parent club next summer.

The Moroccan has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Fiorentina, though, and he is expected to leave the Italian side permanently next summer, even if Man United reject a move.

Amrabat's starting role against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon is under huge threat due to the return of captain Bruno Fernandes from suspension.

Scott McTominay could drop into a deeper position alongside Mainoo, with Amrabat possibly being named among the substitutes for the clash at the London Stadium.

Man United are seemingly preparing to revamp their midfield next year, with Donny van de Beek said to be on the verge of completing a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Casemiro is also being linked with an exit, with the Brazil captain said to have received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia ahead of the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, the club are thought to be open to sensible offers for Denmark international Christian Eriksen.
