Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has reportedly completed his medical with Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of a loan switch to the Bundesliga outfit.

The 26-year-old has only made two appearances for the Red Devils this season despite the team's injury problems, with the midfielder not in the plans of head coach Erik ten Hag.

A number of clubs have been linked with the Netherlands international, but Frankfurt have recently emerged as the favourites for his signature.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Van de Beek has now completed his medical with the German outfit, with the loan switch now a step closer to being completed.

Plettenberg claims that there are "a few small details" to be addressed, but an official announcement from both clubs is expected to arrive this week, allowing him to move to the club at the start of January.

A recent report claimed that Man United will pay around 60% of the midfielder's wages during the second half of the season, as Frankfurt could not afford to take on his whole salary.

However, there is believed to be the option to make the move permanent next summer, with his price potentially around £8.6m.

Galatasaray and Real Sociedad are among the other clubs to be linked with the Dutchman, who arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in September 2020, penning a five-year contract.

Van de Beek has struggled to make his mark for the Red Devils, only managing two goals and two assists in 62 appearances in all competitions.

The midfielder's only Premier League football of this season came as a late substitute against Crystal Palace at the end of September.

However, he has recently been involved in league squads for the 20-time English champions due to the club's severe injury issues.

Frankfurt will conclude their 2023 with a contest against Borussia Monchengladbach on December 20 and will then not be back in action until January 13 against RB Leipzig, when Van de Beek could make his debut.

The midfielder will be joining a club that currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga table, boasting 21 points from their opening 15 matches of the campaign.

The developments mean that Van de Beek is now highly unlikely to be in the Man United squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham United. body check tags ::
