Manchester United reportedly failed with a late attempt to sign Timo Werner.

The Red Devils have signed Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen, but they have struggled to land their attacking targets.

Erik ten Hag was keen to sign Antony from his former club, but Ajax were not prepared to sanction the deal, while Benjamin Sesko opted to join RB Leipzig, despite his agent previously holding a meeting with United's football director John Murtough.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United also failed to land Werner after making a last-ditch attempt to sign the striker from Chelsea.

The Red Devils made an approach for Werner before the 26-year-old rejoined Leipzig from Chelsea in a £25m deal.

Despite missing out on Werner, Ten Hag is still keen to add to his forward options before the transfer window closes, with Hakim Ziyech and Cody Gakpo being linked with moves to the club.
