Manchester United 'forced to abandon Ousmane Dembele move'

Manchester United withdraw their interest in Ousmane Dembele due to the Barcelona attacker's latest injury, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Ousmane Dembele amid news that the Barcelona attacker will spend the next four months on the sidelines through injury.

Dembele was forced to undergo surgery on the knee injury that he picked up while representing France at Euro 2020, and he is not expected to return to action until the latter stages of 2021.

According to Sport, Man United were prepared to pay €50m (£43m) for the 24-year-old during this summer's transfer window, with his contract at Camp Nou due to expire next summer.

However, the report claims that the attacker's injury has forced the 20-time English champions to abandon their pursuit of the former Rennes youngster.

Dembele has struggled with a number of injury problems since arriving at Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, but he did make 44 appearances for Ronald Koeman's side last season.

Juventus have also been linked with the Frenchman, who as it stands, would be available to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January. body check tags ::
