Manchester United have reportedly put forward an official approach for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Since the closing weeks of 2022-23, there has been uncertainty regarding United's goalkeeping options for next season, largely owing to the situation regarding David de Gea.
United have requested that the long-serving Spaniard takes a big pay-cut to extend his stay at Old Trafford, something which he was seemingly prepared to do according to a report earlier this week.
However, United officials are seemingly yet to make De Gea's stay official, resulting in him taking to social media on Wednesday.
Regardless of whether De Gea ultimately continues his stint with the EFL Cup winners, head coach Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that he will offer no guarantees that the 32-year-old will remain as first choice between the sticks.
United have ultimately been linked with a wide array of different goalkeepers, including Brentford's David Raya who has seemingly missed out on a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nevertheless, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla on Twitter, United are ready to press ahead with a deal for Onana as soon as possible.
Pedulla says that United have presented Inter with an official proposal for a player who has just helped Inter reach the Champions League final, where they narrowly lost to Manchester City.
The Italian giants have allegedly responded by requesting a €60m (£51.8m), plus add-ons, if they are to agree to sell one of their most prized assets.
Earlier this week, it was suggested that Inter officials had travelled to England to hold discussions with United, with the perception being that they are open to a deal.
Cameroon international Onana has just enjoyed a fine campaign, keeping 19 clean sheets from his 41 appearances in all competitions with Inter also winning the Coppa Italia.
With four years left on his contract, Inter do not need to be in any rush to sell, but cashing in on the 27-year-old would help I Nerrazurri strengthen in other areas of the pitch.
Club officials are currently attempting to negotiate a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, with the West Londoners only open to a transfer that would see a permanent transfer go through either this summer or in 2024.
The Blues have also held an interest in Onana, although it is unclear whether they would be prepared to meet Inter's demands when it has been claimed that Kepa Arrizabalaga could remain as number one under Mauricio Pochettino. body check tags ::
