Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The 27-year-old was in impressive form for his Italian club last season after arriving from Ajax, featuring on 41 occasions in all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.
Man United are in the market for a new number one goalkeeper this summer, with David de Gea's contract expiring at the end of June, and Onana has seemingly been identified as their leading target.
The 20-time English champions are believed to have failed with an opening offer of €40m (£34.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) add-ons for the former Cameroon international.
The Red Devils allegedly raised their bid to €50m (£43m), including add-ons, on Friday, with the club moving closer to Inter's asking price, which is believed to be closer to €60m (£51.4m).
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man United are now 'really close' to securing a deal for the stopper following a 'positive round of talks'.
The Italian claims that the deal could be secured by the end of next week, with personal terms between the two parties already agreed.
Man United are allegedly expecting Onana to travel on their pre-season tour of the United States, with head coach Erik ten Hag determined to integrate him into the team as soon as possible.
The goalkeeper's ball-playing abilities are believed to have made him a prime target for the Red Devils, with De Gea struggling in that area during Ten Hag's first campaign at the helm.
Romano claims that Onana has agreed a four-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further season, and he is expected to be handed an increase on his current salary at Inter.
A number of Saudi Arabian clubs have also been linked with the former Cameroon international, but he allegedly only wants to move to Old Trafford.
Onana previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax, featuring on 214 occasions for the Dutch giants in all competitions, keeping 85 clean sheets in the process.
The goalkeeper is seemingly set to become Man United's second signing of the summer transfer window, following Mason Mount to Old Trafford, with the Englishman arriving from Chelsea last week.
Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund is also a leading target for the Red Devils, and it is believed that Mason Greenwood could move in the opposite direction on loan for the 2023-24 campaign. body check tags ::
