Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close eye on Alessandro Bastoni's contract situation at Inter Milan ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been with the Milan giants since 2017, making 142 appearances in all competitions, contributing three goals and 13 assists in the process.
The centre-back has again been a key player this term, featuring on 24 occasions, but he has entered the final 18 months of his contract at San Siro.
According to Tuttosport, Bastoni is holding off signing a new contract at Inter, with the club not prepared to meet his current wage demands.
The report claims that the Italy international wants in the region of €5m (£4.4m) per year, but the Serie A outfit have not yet signalled whether they are prepared to pay the salary that he wants.
Man United and Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail, are both keeping an eye on the situation, with the Premier League duo huge admirers of his talents.
Bastoni recently revealed that he had "some contact" with Spurs over the summer, but he was "happy" to remain at Inter despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
"There was some contact with Tottenham last summer, it's true but I'm happy with my choice. I'm happy here at Inter," Bastoni told Corriere dello Sport.
Bastoni has contributed two assists in 17 Serie A appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, while he provided two assists in five outings in the group stage of the Champions League.
Man United are currently well-stocked in the middle of their defence, with Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire battling for two positions.
However, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are likely to leave the club on free transfers this summer, while Maguire's future is also unclear, which could lead to the Red Devils bringing in another centre-back to boost their squad for the 2023-24 campaign.
Tottenham are also likely to move for a central defender during the summer market regardless of whether Antonio Conte stays as head coach or exits the club.
Bastoni, who has been capped on 17 occasions by the Italian national side, has won Serie A, the Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups during his time at Inter. body check tags ::
