Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay £79m to land Douglas Costa if Juventus do not take up the option to sign him permanently.
The 27-year-old has impressed in Turin during his season on loan from Bayern Munich, scoring six goals and setting up 13 more in all competitions.
Juve have so far paid £7m for Costa and have an agreement in place to sign him on a long-term basis for a further £33m.
According to The Sun, United are waiting to see if the Italian giants push ahead with their plans, as they are themselves keen on bringing in the Brazilian winger.
Bayern would be willing to do business with the Red Devils, knowing that they can double the figure Juve have already agreed to pay, but the report indicates that there is only a "40% chance" of Jose Mourinho signing the 27-year-old.
