Manchester United have reportedly decided to change their stance regarding defender Matteo Darmian.
The Italy international is nearing the end of his fourth campaign at Old Trafford, but the 29-year-old is known to be in favour of a return to Serie A.
The versatile full-back has also only made six outings in all competitions this season, and it has been suggested that a transfer will take place in the summer.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are ready to offer Darmian a new four-year deal in the coming months.
The report suggests that the development is partly due to United being keen to avoid losing the player on a free transfer, with his existing deal expiring in 2020.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already expected to lose one full-back in the summer, with Antonio Valencia ready to leave the Premier League giants.
