Manchester United 'to rival Liverpool, Chelsea for Ronald Araujo'

Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the latest club to register an interest in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.

While six of the 22-year-old's 19 appearances in all competitions this season have come from the substitutes' bench, the centre-back has established himself as an important player under recently-appointed boss Xavi.

Nevertheless, the Uruguayan has just 18 months remaining on his contract, making him a candidate for a sale in the eyes of club officials.

According to El Nacional, Man United are contemplating whether to make an approach for Araujo during the January transfer window.

Despite possessing an array of high-profile options in that area of the pitch, United have struggled in defence throughout the current campaign.

The report claims that Araujo, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, is available for a fee in the region of £30m. body check tags ::
