Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly determined to beat Manchester City to the signature of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves during the January transfer window.
City have recently been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, who starred for title-winning Wolves in the Championship last season following a £15.8m move from Porto.
Neves has also started life as a Premier League footballer in impressive fashion, scoring once and providing one assist in four appearances at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
According to The Sun, United and City will go head to head for the Portugal international in January, and Mourinho is determined to beat rival Pep Guardiola to his signature.
The report claims that Mourinho initially wanted to wait until next summer before launching an offer, but feels that City will move at the start of 2019, which will create a scrap between the Manchester rivals.
Neves, who is contracted to Wolves until the summer of 2023, is represented by well-known agent Jorge Mendes.
