Manchester United will reportedly have to make some significant first-team sales this summer in order to boost their squad in terms of incomings for the 2024-25 campaign.

The Red Devils were prevented from making any January signings due to the rules surrounding Financial Fair Play, with head coach Erik ten Hag admitting that he was unable to make a forward acquisition in the winter market for financial reasons.

According to Football Insider, Man United are still struggling with the Financial Fair Play obligations, and the club will have to sell players to raise funds for transfers this summer.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire both continue to be linked with moves away from Old Trafford, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is said to be available for the right price this summer.

The club would also make huge savings in terms of wages if Raphael Varane were to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

Man United are not expected to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent basis from Fiorentina, with the Morocco international struggling to have an impact this season.

Meanwhile, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are both expected to be available for transfer this summer.

Anthony Martial is set to leave on a free transfer, and Antony's future is also unclear, with the Brazil international struggling to make his mark since arriving from Ajax in 2022.

Man United are expected to be active during this summer's transfer window, with a new centre-forward set to be a priority, with Rasmus Hojlund lacking support in the final third of the field.

A muscular injury led to Hojlund missing out against Fulham on Saturday afternoon, and Marcus Rashford struggled to make his mark through the middle in what proved to be a 2-1 home loss for the Red Devils.

Omari Forson started against Fulham, while Amad Diallo was introduced late on, and Ten Hag insisted that both attackers would be important in the coming weeks.

"I think it was reasonable. He had some good actions. He was reliable in defending and had some good actions in possession. I saw, for his first time, he did well," Ten Hag told BBC Sport when asked about Forson.

"Amad looks very sharp. I think it was a good sub [performance] from him. I think that's good for the future. We need them because we have our problems in the frontline. So it's about them, to show they can contribute to this team, that they can have an end product but also to show liability."

Man United's summer spending will also be impacted by their final spot in the Premier League table, with the Red Devils bidding to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Ten Hag's side are currently sixth, three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and eight from fourth-placed Aston Villa in the fight to be in the 2024-25 European Cup.
