Manchester United have announced that they have agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign midfielder Shinji Kagawa.
The former Premier League champions have been in hot pursuit of the Japan international in recent months, with Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson believed to have watched Kagawa perform in the Bundesliga on a number of occasions throughout the season.
The 23-year-old is thought to have cost around £14m and will officially be United's first capture of the summer.
United released a statement on their official website, which said: "The deal is subject only to the player medical and obtaining a UK work permit. These conditions are anticipated to be completed by the end of June."
It is understood that Ferguson was keen to complete the move swiftly after missing out on signing Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, who finalised a switch to Chelsea yesterday.
