Manchester United are reportedly determined to beat Manchester City in the race to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains keen to strengthen his backline this summer after a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League this season.
However, it has been claimed that United face being priced out of a deal for Maguire, who could cost in the region of £80m.
City remain the favourites for the 26-year-old's signature as Pep Guardiola looks to replace the outgoing Vincent Kompany, while there is seemingly a willingness to pay as much as £65m.
According to the London Evening Standard, however, United may look to trump that offer, aware that they cannot afford to go through the summer without a high-profile addition in that area of the pitch.
United may look to press on with their efforts to bring in Maguire once they have completed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
