Manchester United will reportedly launch a fresh bid to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

The Dane, whose contract at Spurs expires next year, has been heavily linked with a move away throughout the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid were said to be Eriksen's primary suitors, while United reportedly made a late approach for the 27-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, United have been given encouragement by Los Blancos failing to sign Eriksen this summer and are planning another approach for him in January.

Eriksen would leave Spurs for free next summer, making the January window Spurs' last chance to secure a transfer fee for the midfielder, who is valued at around £50m.

United's hierarchy has received widespread criticism from the club's support for failing to secure any midfield replacements for Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini over the summer.
