Manchester United 'learn asking price for Mason Mount'

Chelsea reportedly demand £70m for Mason Mount, with Manchester United in talks over the attacker's signing during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly been informed that they will have to come up with an offer of £70m in order to sign Chelsea attacker Mason Mount during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils have allegedly already come to an agreement with Mount over personal terms, with the club attempting to make him their first signing of the summer market.

Man United are now said to be in talks with Chelsea over a transfer fee, but the two teams are believed to be far apart when it comes to their valuations of the England international.

According to the Evening Standard, Erik ten Hag's side have been told that they will have to pay £70m if they wish to bring Mount to Old Trafford this summer.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions are set to make an opening offer this week, although it is unlikely that they will match Chelsea's valuation of the attacker.

The Blues are not in a strong position to negotiate a high price for Mount, with the Englishman's contract at Stamford Bridge due to expire next June.

Mount found it difficult to show his best form for Chelsea during the 2022-23 campaign, only managing three goals and six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The attacker struggled with a pelvic injury in the latter stages of the season, though, and he was not involved in any of Chelsea's final seven matches of the Premier League campaign.

The Blues have allegedly been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Mount to a new deal, with the player now preparing to seek pastures new in the upcoming market.

Mount has made 195 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and registering 37 assists in the process, while he has also had two successful loan spells at Vitesse and Derby County.

The attacker's most productive season for his current side came last term, when he scored 13 goals and registered 16 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

Man United are said to be hopeful of signing Mount for a fee in the region of £50m, with Chelsea under pressure to make some sales due to their spending in the last two transfer windows.

Liverpool and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Englishman, but the Red Devils are now seemingly in pole position to secure his signature.

Following Saturday's FA Cup final, Man United head coach Erik ten Hag said that he had informed the club of what is needed during this summer's transfer window for the team to be competitive next season. body check tags ::
