Manchester United manager David Moyes believes that the club will offer striker Robin van Persie a new contract after he pledged his future to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has quashed rumours of a possible exit by insisting that he is happy at the North-West outfit.
While there have been reports that Moyes may be open to selling Van Persie, who has two years left on his deal, the Scotsman appears to have rejected these suggestions by claiming that a new contract offer could be on the table.
"It's nice of Robin [to say that he is happy to stay]," Sky Sports News quotes Moyes as saying. "He is happy here and we are very pleased about that.
"He has a couple of years to go on his contract and I am sure that [an extension] is something the board will look at."
United will take on arch rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this Sunday.
