Napoli are reportedly keen on signing Everton left-back Leighton Baines.
The 27-year-old England international enhanced his growing reputation last season with a string of fine displays for club and country.
Manchester United are known to be long-term admirers of Baines, but Everton are reluctant to part with him and the player is also understood to unwilling to sacrifice regular first-team football.
Baines would struggle to earn an immediate starting role if he switched to Old Trafford because of the presence of Patrice Evra.
However, Napoli's Andrea Dossena is currently in talks over a move to AC Milan and the Partenopei manager Walter Mazzari wants Baines to replace the former Liverpool man as first-choice left-back at the Stadio San Paolo, according to the Daily Mail.
It is believed that Everton would demand a transfer fee of £20m to agree to Baines's departure.
