Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson has agreed to extend his loan stint with Barnsley until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old's initial deal at Oakwell had been due to expire in the near future.
However, it has now been decided that the youngster will remain with the League One club as they battle for promotion to the Championship.
"Ben has really thrived at Barnsley and I think he's been doing a proper man's job. He looks an experienced player in that team," United's reserve manager Warren Joyce told the club's official website.
Pearson has scored one goal during his 12 appearances for the Tykes.
