Real Madrid 'weighing up summer move for Christian Pulisic'

Real Madrid could move for Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic during this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Christian Pulisic during this summer's transfer window.

The 24-year-old is not believed to be in Chelsea's plans for the 2023-24 campaign, with the United States international expected to be available for transfer at the end of the season.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have been among the clubs to be linked with the forward, who has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

However, according to Defensa Central, there is also genuine interest from Real Madrid, with the Spanish and European champions looking to boost their attacking options for next season.

Eden Hazard could be on the move this summer, while Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz are both out of contract at the end of June, and their exits would leave Los Blancos short of options in the final third.

Pulisic started his professional career with Borussia Dortmund, spending three years in the first team before making the move to Chelsea in the summer of 2019.

The American has featured on 136 occasions for the Blues in all competitions, contributing 26 goals and 21 assists in the process.

Pulisic played 21 times for Chelsea this season, meanwhile, but a disappointing campaign has seen him manage just one goal and two assists.

The attacker has been on the sidelines since the start of January due to a knee injury, missing his side's last six league matches, in addition to fixtures in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Pulisic will again miss out against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but Blues head coach Graham Potter revealed during his press conference on Friday that the American was closing in on a return to action.

"The players who missed Southampton will be back. We've had a good week's training, everybody's available pretty much, apart from N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic," Potter said.

"They are certainly making progress. They are joining the warm-up at the moment and they will be more integrated next week. So that's good."

Pulisic was linked with a loan exit during the January window, with both Newcastle and Man United believed to have considered making a more for the forward at the start of the year.

Chelsea will be under pressure to trim their squad this summer due to their business over the last two transfer windows, and it is believed that Pulisic could be available for a cut-price fee.

The forward was in action for his country at the 2022 World Cup, making four appearances against Wales, England, Iran and the Netherlands, as the USA reached the round of 16. body check tags ::
