Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid defender Pepe this summer in a fresh development.
The two clubs have been at a stand-off this summer, with Real Madrid keen to sign David de Gea and Manchester United demanding Sergio Ramos in return.
While De Gea could yet move to the Bernabeu, it is now understood that Ramos will sign a new long-term deal with Real, ending the interest from Old Trafford.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United have now been offered the chance to sign Pepe, who could find himself behind Ramos and young Frenchman Raphael Varane in the pecking order under Rafael Benitez.
Pepe will be 33 next February, but his experience of top-level European football is understood to have alerted the Premier League outfit.
