In-demand Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi has reportedly emerged as a leading transfer target for Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
The 23-year-old joined Los Che from Sampdoria in the summer of 2014 and impressed during his first campaign in Spanish football.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have all been credited with interest in the German international and according to The Express, Man United have now joined that race as they look for defensive reinforcements.
Mustafi, who has previously refused to hide his desire to move to a bigger club, has a contract with Valencia until 2019, which includes a buy-out clause in the region of £37m.
