Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly believes that his club need to sign at least six "important players" during this summer's transfer window to be competitive next term.
The Portugal international has allegedly asked the Red Devils to listen to offers for him, as he is desperate to play in the Champions League next season.
Ronaldo is also said to be frustrated by Man United's lack of movement during this summer's window, with the 20-time English champions yet to confirm a first-team signing, despite the fact that the new Premier League campaign is only just over a month away.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Ronaldo has told the Red Devils that he wants to leave, with the 37-year-old fearful that the club will again struggle next term.
"The reality is the Cristiano wants to leave Manchester United," Romano said on his official YouTube channel. "Jorge Mendes has been clear, they want to try and find a solution this summer."
Ronaldo is allegedly "convinced" that the club's new head coach Erik ten Hag can help the struggling giants be successful once again, but he is concerned by their transfer activity, with the forward allegedly believing that six or seven new signings need to arrive this summer.
"He is really disappointed by Manchester United's general situation [but] in the market especially. I'm told that Cristiano appreciates Erik ten Hag, he's convinced he's a very good manager, the right man to restart this project," Romano added.
"But it can't be only the manager, it is needed from the club, the board and the owners – a really strong message and statement in the market. They need to sign players. I like the manager, I love the club but I don't feel the ambition. This is the message from Cristiano.
"Cristiano is really happy with some of the players in the team. But he is convinced that some signings are needed – six, seven important players are needed at Manchester United."
Man United are expected to confirm Tyrell Malacia's arrival from Feyenoord on Monday, while Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, free agent Christian Eriksen and Ajax duo Lisandro Martinez and Antony are said to be targets for the club this summer.
Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and Roma are among the clubs to be credited with an interest with Ronaldo.
However, Man United have reportedly reiterated that the Portuguese will not be allowed to leave this summer, and Romano has said that there are not currently any offers on the table.
"Cristiano has no agreement with any club as of today," added Romano. "So it is not Cristiano going to fight with Manchester United because he has a proposal, a right offer and wants to leave immediately.
"He wants to send a message, he wants to see ambition. And he wants to go in case he finds a proposal. But at the moment he has no agreement with any clubs."
Ronaldo scored 24 goals and registered three assists in 37 appearances for Man United last season, including 18 goals in 30 Premier League outings.
Meanwhile, the unsettled forward still has another year left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, with the option of an additional 12 months.
