Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly yet to come to a full agreement over a January deal for Jadon Sancho despite reports that the attacker is on the verge of returning to BVB.

The 23-year-old is set to leave Old Trafford following his falling-out with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag, which stemmed from the attacker being left out against Arsenal at the start of September.

Sancho disputed Ten Hag's claims that poor performances in training had led to him being left out of the clash at the Emirates Stadium, and the ex-Manchester City forward posted a statement on social media after the match claiming that he had been made "a scapegoat".

The Englishman has not been involved in the first-team picture at Man United for some time, and he is almost certain to depart the 20-time English champions in the near future.

Dortmund have emerged as the favourites to re-sign him on loan, and it had been thought that a deal would be confirmed on Friday, but according to Sky Deutschland, the move has been delayed.

The report claims that 'there is still no complete agreement' between the two clubs when it comes to the finer details, so negotiations are continuing.

According to Football Insider, a buy option this summer was likely to be inserted into the loan agreement, with Dortmund potentially able to re-sign him permanently for £25m at the end of the campaign.

However, the article from journalists Florian Plettenberg, Patrick Berger and Jesco von Eichmann claims that it is now unlikely a purchase option will be included.

Sancho has allegedly already come to an agreement with BVB over a return, but Man United are yet to give the green light, with the Premier League outfit expected to still pay the majority of his wage packet.

According to the London Evening Standard, despite the hold-up, a deal is likely to be confirmed over the weekend.

The attacker made the move to Man United from Dortmund in the summer of 2021, and he has a contract with Ten Hag's side until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Sancho has struggled to make his mark for the Red Devils, though, only managing 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances in all competitions.

The most successful period of the forward's career came at Dortmund, scoring 50 goals and registering 64 assists in 137 appearances for the club between 2017 and 2021.

Providing that an agreement is able to be reached, Sancho could be involved in BVB's winter training camp in Marbella, as he attempts to build his fitness ahead of the German team's next Bundesliga game against SV Darmstadt 98 on January 13.
