Manchester United are allegedly willing to let one of their most important players leave the club during this summer's transfer window if a suitable offer arrives.
Bruno Fernandes was once again a vital player for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign, featuring on 48 occasions in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering 13 assists in the process.
There was recently been speculation surrounding the 29-year-old's future, with Bayern Munich believed to be interested in securing his signature this summer.
Meanwhile, there have been suggestions of interest from Saudi Arabia, with clubs from the Saudi Pro League thought to be considering making a move for him during the current market.
According to The Mirror, despite Fernandes's status as captain and a vital player, Man United would be open to letting the Portugal international leave this summer for a suitable fee.
Man United 'willing to sell Fernandes this summer'
The report claims that Fernandes 'is available if the price is right', with teams from the Saudi Pro League believed to be willing to pay up to £80m for his services.
However, despite the club's stance, it is understood that it is still highly unlikely Fernandes will be on the move during the summer market.
The Portuguese made the move to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, and he has represented the Red Devils on 233 occasions, scoring 79 goals and registering 66 assists in the process.
Fernandes has a contract with the 20-time English champions until June 2026, with the option of a further 12 months. However, it has been claimed that Man United would be willing to open talks over a lucrative new contract.
Should Man United entertain any Fernandes bids?
Money talks in football, so it would be wrong for Man United to completely rule out a move for Fernandes this summer, especially considering the amount of money in the Saudi Pro League.
If a club were to make a substantial offer for a player approaching the age of 30, it would be difficult to turn down, but Fernandes is such an important figure at Old Trafford.
It is alleged that only Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are viewed as unsellable this summer.
If Man United are to return to former glories, though, they need players of Fernandes's ilk, and if he commits to the club ahead of the new campaign, it would be a huge boost for the club.
Fernandes is unlikely to want to move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career, meanwhile, with a switch to the lucrative division likely to also be an option at a later point. body check tags ::
