Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has dismissed reports suggesting that he will leave the Italian capital to join Manchester United this month.
Strootman, who worked with Louis van Gaal with the Dutch national side, has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months, but he is eager to achieve more in Serie A after recently returning from a serious knee injury which prevented him from playing at the World Cup.
"I've signed up for five years, but so far I've only been playing for six or seven months," the 24-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.
"I want to play and help the team. That's important to me. If I spoke about other clubs that would be disrespectful, and I don't want to do that.
"After the winter break, I've been training with more confidence, I feel better physically and I'm returning to 100%. I'm not there yet, but I'm coming back."
Strootman joined Roma from PSV Eindhoven for £15.6m in July 2013.
