Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly attempting to hijack Manchester United's move for Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has long been a target of the Red Devils and it was thought that a deal had finally been agreed.
According to O Jogo, however, Tottenham executives have flown to Portugal to negotiate a move of their own for the 24-year-old.
Spurs have made a €45m (£41m) bid for the Portugal international, but Sporting are demanding at least €65m (£59.3m) for their prized asset.
Fernandes is expected to play his last game for Sporting at the weekend as they take on rivals Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup.
The attacking midfielder scored 32 goals for Sporting in a glittering 2018-19 campaign.
