Manchester United and Chelsea will reportedly go head to head for the signature of AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli in this summer's transfer window.
Romagnoli, 24, joined Milan from Roma in 2015 and has made close to 150 appearances in all competitions for the San Siro club.
According to Calciomercato, both United and Chelsea are 'observing' the centre-back ahead of an official move at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Romagnoli was appointed Milan's captain last summer when Leonardo Bonucci re-joined Juventus and he has made 27 appearances for the Italian giants during the 2018-19 campaign.
United appear certain to move for a new central defender in this summer's transfer window, while Chelsea are also seemingly keen to improve in that area ahead of next season.
