Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly identified Molde's Orjan Nyland as the ideal goalkeeper to provide competition for David de Gea.
It has been suggested that United's current deputy Anders Lindegaard has grown increasingly frustrated by a lack of regular action at Old Trafford.
As a result, United are prepared to part company with the Dane during the January transfer window and will offer him to Molde in exchange for their Norway international Nyland, according to The People.
The report added that, although 24-year-old Nyland signed a five-year contract with Molde in September, he would be eager to make the move to United, should they firm up their interest in his services.
Lindegaard, 30, joined United in 2010 and has gone on to make 29 appearances for the club.
