Relive Sports Mole's coverage of the Coupe de France between Marseille and Reims.

Marseille played hosts to Reims on Sunday evening in the Coupe de France.

The two Ligue 1 sides battled it out in the Round of 64, with the pair sitting side by side in the French top division.

In a tight yet entertaining affair, Marseille edged past Reims thanks to extra time.

Read how the match unfolded in our live commentary below.

Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the Coupe de France where Marseille host Reims at the Stade Velodrome.
It's Round of 64 time in the French equivalent to the FA Cup, and we've already seen some fascinating ties this weekend. We end this stage of the competition (for most anyway) with an all-Ligue 1 clash, as Marseille host Reims.
These two sides have had largely contrasting seasons so far. Marseille have disappointed so far this term, having fallen miles behind Ligue 1 titles challengers Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco and Lille despite a strong start to the campaign. They're currently 15 points behind leaders PSG, and were dumped out of the group stages of the Champions League after losing all six of their games.
Meanwhile, Reims are exceeding expectation this season and find themselves level on points with Marseille, and just two positions behind them in eighth. Reims are pushing for Europe, which comes as a shock compared to many onlookers who predicted mid-table mediocrity at the start of the campaign.
These two sides have met already this season at the Stade Velodrome. Marseille came from two goals down to make it 2-2 late on, before Prince Oniangue scored a stoppage-time winner to earn Reims a surprise victory.
Marseille are the most successful side of all time in this competition, having won the cup 10 times from 18 finals. However, their last victory came all the way back in 1989, and lost consecutive finals in 2006 and 2007. Reims have lifted the Coupe de France twice - in 1950 and 1958 - and also finished as runners-up in 1977.
Right, let's put the history to one side for a moment and get the team news.
MARSEILLE XI: Samba, Abdallah, Diawara, Nkoulou, Mendy, Lemina, Romao, Imbula, Payet, Thauvin, Gignac
Caretaker manager Jose Anigo has fielded a fairly strong team for this match.
Les Phoceens are still without injured star man Mathieu Valbuena, but Dimitri Payet is fit to start. He and Florian Thauvin sit just behind lone striker Andre-Pierre Gignac.
There are rare starts for Brice Samba in goal, Mario Lemina and Gianelli Imbula among others.
Here is what Anigo has in reserve.
MARSEILLE BENCH: Bracigliano, Mendes, Fanni, Abergel, Bangoura, Cheyrou, Khalifa
Marseille are also without usual captain and France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, as well as the Ayew brothers; Andre is out injured, while Jordan has moved to Sochaux on loan.
So that's the hosts, let's see what Reims have to offer.
REIMS XI: Placide, Mandi, Tacalfred, Fofana, Turan, Puget, Deveaux, Fortes, Charbonnier, Ayite, De Preville
Hubert Fournier has also fielded a near full-strength side for this cup game.
Johnny Placide starts between the sticks for the visitors, while Nicolas De Preville starts in attack with Gaetan Charbonnier and Floyd Ayite supporting him from midfield.
So that's the starting lineup, here are the Reims substitutes.
REIMS BENCH: Courtet, Atar, Weber, Signorino, Ca, Oniangue, Agassa
Oniangue, who scored the winner when these two sides met in Ligue 1, is forced to settle for a place on the bench, as well as regular goalkeeper Kossi Agassa.
This really is a tough one to call. Marseille have lost four times on home turf in Ligue 1 this season, including to tonight's opponents, while Reims have a tremendous away record, with just two defeats in 10 games. Mind you, this is the cup, so anything can happen and the form book goes out of the window.
Last season's cup campaign ended in Paris for Marseille after a Zlatan-inspired defeat, however Reims were giant-killed by Breton club Plabennec. Marseille themselves are no strangers to recent giant-killings having lost to eventual finalist Quevilly in the 2012 quarter finals.
The two teams are in the tunnel, we're moments away from this match beginning.
Marseille are in their all-white first strip with blue trim, while Reims are donning their away kit of all blue. It's pretty hard to get the two mixed up. Even the officials are in all-yellow uniforms.
We're ready to go at a Stade Velodrome that is well below being full.
KICK OFF! Marseille, playing from left to right, get the first half underway.
SAVE! Marseille very nearly go in front just 18 seconds into the game. Abdallah floats a cross into the far post that swirls with the wind, and Gignac's diving header forces a great stop from Placide.
What a start that would have been for Marseille. The pitch isn't in great condition, so don't be surprised if we see more long balls like that pumped up to the big man Gignac.
OFF THE BAR! Marseille go close again with a stunning effort from Payet. Lemina wins the ball for the hosts before passing it inside to Payet on the edge of the D. He takes the ball on the spin before banging it on the half-volley. It beats Placide comes cannons back off the crossbar.
Two superb efforts from Marseille, but it's still goalless. Reims just cannot get out of their own half at the moment.
Marseille have a corner that ends up with Lemina on the edge of the penalty area. He pokes a shot through a crowd of bodies towards the near corner, but it's a relatively easy save for Placide, who smothers the ball.
Reims starting to attack themselves now. Charbonnier brings the ball down on the right edge of the box before flashing a shot at goal, but it was always bouncing wide of the far post.
MISS! Reims have come right back into this game in the last few minutes, and they should be in front. Devaux lofts a ball in behind the Marseille defence after the hosts give possession away cheaply, and the striker is one on one with Samba. He makes his way into the area, but side-foots his shot wide. De Preville really should have scored there.
SAVE! Now Marseille go up the other end and force Placide into a good low stop, as Payet smacks a half-volley from outside the box which bounces just in front of the Reims stopper.
What a start to the game this has been, it's amazing that there has been no goals yet!
The games entered a bit of a scrappy period in the middle of the park as both of these teams jostle for the upper hand.
Reims float a teasing free kick from the right into the box, and Nkoulou is forced to nod the ball out of play for a throw.
Marseille, who are looking very dangerous every time they venture forward, break away downfield, but both Gignac and Payet see their shots from the right of the area blocked.
Very silly move from Brice Samba, making his Marseille debut in goal tonight, as he comes out of his box to handle the ball. He was marginally outside the area when catching the ball, but it's a bit of a rookie. Good free-kick position for Reims now.
SAVE! Samba redeems himself with a wonderful save. He flies to his left to push the ball away from the top corner of De Preville's powerful shot.
Marseille are slightly on top at the moment, as we reach a point of this game where we can finally catch our breath.
Thauvin and Payet are both looking very lively for the hosts. Reims are yet to learn how to contain the duo in this game, and that is where most of the Marseille chances are coming from.
Marseille attack, Reims defend has been the pattern over the past 10 minutes, but there isn't a lot to report on. The game has fizzled out a bit since it's pulsating start.
That's probably down to the accuracy of the final pass, as many seem to be overhit or easily snuffed out.
Mario Lemina is down on the floor after taking an accidental whack in the face from Ayite. Marseille have a free kick in a good position on the right.
We're made to wait until Lemina is off the field before Payet can take the free kick. He dinks it to the far post before Thauvin nods it back across goal, but Tacalfred heads it behind for a corner.
Gignac hasn't seen a lot of the ball in recent times due to Reims' good defending. They are working hard to cut off the supply to the Marseille forward and, so far, it's working.
That's a real waste from Turan, who gets to the edge of the box before blazing an effort high over the bar. He had Puget making the run to his left on the overlap, and he doesn't look happy to have not seen the ball.
Brilliant play from Thauvin, who uses his trickery to sneak past two defends into the box. His shot is rather disappointing though, as he opens his body up before seemingly scuffing a side-foot effort to the near post, although Placide still has to be on his game to make the stop.
There will be one minute of added time.
HALF TIME: Marseille 0-0 Reims
Goalless at the break then, which is quite surprising at the end of an engaging first half.
The first 20 minutes were action packed, with the following 20 not so eventful. The last five minutes then saw a bit more action, but neither side has been able to break the deadlock yet.
Gignac forced a fine stop from Placide, while Payet hit the bar for Marseille. De Preville spurned a wonderful opportunity at the other end for Reims.
Reims are heading back out at the Stade Velodrome, Marseille following just behind.
KICK OFF! Reims, playing to the left, get the second half up and running.
Lemina has a wild attempt at goal from range, and it flies well over the bar.
SAVE! Great save by the legs of Samba, who blocks De Preville's low thunderbolt from just outside the box.
Reims have started the second half very well, and have put Marseille under some serious pressure with a flurry of corners.
CHANCE! Reims swing a corner into the front post from the left where Charbonnier gets to it and flicks on his head towards the far post, but it just loops over.
Imbula has impressed tonight. He drives forward, holding off a couple of Reims challengers, before playing a ball over the top, but none of his teammates can get to it.
CLOSE! Nearly an opener for Marseille. Abdallah managers to get to the byline before firing a cross from the right to the near post. Gignac is there and fires a volley with real power at goal, but it soars just wide of the post. That was very close.
It was a difficult chance for Gignac, but he flashed it into the side-netting.
Just a reminder that we will have extra time and penalties if required. This tie must be decided tonight!
The ball pops up for Mendy after Tacalfred hooks a cross from the right away. The Marseille man gets it under control, but his shot is dragged along the floor and straight into the welcoming arms of Placide.
MARSEILLE CHANGE: Saber Khalifa, a striker, has come on, with Florian Thauvin making way.
REIMS CHANGE: Eliran Etar is brought on for the away side, with Nicolas De Preville coming off.
SAVE! Glorious chance for Marseille. Gignac brings the ball down with a superb first touch before moving to the edge of the box. He slides in Payet, who is in space to his right. Payet takes a touch before firing a low shot at goal, but Placide was quickly out to make a brilliant stop.
OFF THE POST! From one end to the other, and Reims are so unlucky not to go ahead. Charbonnier crosses from the right, and Etar slides in on the penalty spot. His shot beats Samba, but comes back off the far post.
CHANCE! And back up to the other end as Gignac receives a cross inside the box from the left. He opts to hit it first time with the side of his boot, but guides it straight at Placide.
Gignac and Payet have both missed a fair few chances for Marseille tonight. The latter has just had two shots blocked, before Romao was fouled to win a free kick in a good position for the hosts.
CHANCE! Gignac decides to take the set-piece, but blasts it straight into the wall. He wins it back and plays in Khalifa, whose shot is spilled by Placide, but cleared by Fofana.
Marseille are slightly on top, but this game has adopted an end-to-end feel.
SAVE! Great stop by Placide, but Gignac should score. Khalifa's pass bobbles up on the surface, which may put off the striker, before his side-foots it at Placide.
MARSEILLE CHANGE: Benoit Cheyrou replaces Mario Lemina.
MISS! Nearly a disaster from Marseille, but Ayite has let them off the hook. Payet doesn't look as he passes the ball back and it's gone straight to Ayite. He has a chance to shoot on the edge of the box, but Samba closes down the angle, and Ayite shoots wide of the far post. Good goalkeeping, but a big let off for Payet and Marseille.
Brilliant block from Fofana, who puts in a last-ditch dive in front of Gignac to block a certain goal.
Regardless of whether it's through brilliance or stupidity, I'm amazed that it's still goalless.
Just as I make that comment, Gignac knocks a few satellites out of the sky with a ludicrous half-volley attempt.
REIMS CHANGE: Prince Oniangue, who scored the winner the last time these two sides met, replaces Charbonnier.
YELLOW CARD Fofana goes into the book after bringing down Khalifa on the edge of the box. There doesn't seem to be too much contract, and it's looks to be a bit harsh on the Reims defender.
CHANCE! Payet takes the shot from the free kick, and it hits the top of the ball and is collected by Placide.
If the chances keep being wasted like this, then we'll surely be heading to penalties. Never mind extra time.
SAVE! How this isn't a goal I will never know. Actually I do, it's Placide to the rescue for Reims. Gignac spins away from Tacalfred before putting his pass across the face of goal. Payet knocks it back to Cheyrou, whose shot from inside the area is stopped by Placide, and Khalifa's stretched header doesn't have the legs on it to creep over the line.
SAVE! Placide, yet again, saves Reims. Gignac should have scored as he found himself eight yards out in a central position from the Reims goal, but his shot is straight at the Reims stopper.
Two minutes of added time.
Ayite floats a free kick into the far post which finds Atar, but his ball across the face of goal finds nobody.
Khalifa has no support has he goes down the right, and has no option but to shoot, but it's straight down the throat of Placide.
FULL TIME: Marseille 0-0 Reims
Somehow, it's goalless, and we'll have another 30 minutes of extra time.
KICK OFF! Reims, playing to the left, get the first period of extra time underway.
WIDE! Oniangue drags his shot wide from the right of the area after holding off Nkoulou following a ball over the Marseille backline.
GOAL! Marseille 1-0 Reims (Andre-Pierre Gignac)
At long, long last we have a goal, and finally Gignac has managed to convert one of his chances. The cross from the left is nodded down at the far post by Khalifa into the path of Gignac who half-volleys the ball into the far corner.
REIMS CHANGE: Final roll of the dice for Fournier, who sends on Courtet in place of Ayite.
What can Reims do to find a way back? Marseille are creating more chances at the moment, but are failing to take them once more.
Reims are still plugging away, but haven't asked a lot of Samba in extra time. He's had a few simple catches to make, but not a lot else.
HALF TIME IN EXTRA TIME: Marseille 1-0 Reims
So we've got just 15 minutes to go and, as things stand, Marseille are heading through thanks to Andre-Pierre Gignac's goal.
MARSEILLE CHANGE: Final alteration from Anigo as Abdallah is replaced in defence by Abergel.
KICK OFF! Marseille, playing to the left, get the second period of extra time up and running.
YELLOW CARD Devaux is booked for tripping Imbula from behind, who looked to be heading through on goal.
CHANCE! Courtet should have just levelled things up, but spurs a shot wide after the ball seems to divet up off the turf. Tacalfred's diagonal ball over the top catches out Abergel in the right-back position, before Courtet races onto it but misses.
Reims are knocking on the door at the moment, but Marseille are holding firm.
CHANCE! Oniangue hangs his head because he knows that Reims should be level. He is unmarked on the penalty spot and receives a pass from the left, but he side-foots it straight at Samba.
GOAL! Marseille 2-0 Reims (Andre-Pierre Gignac)
It's two for Gignac, two for Marseille, and finally this game is over. Payet brings the ball down inside the box before squaring it back to Gignac. He hits it with a strong side-foot shot, and scores his fifth goal in his last four games.
Khalifa tries to be a bit too clever as he attempts to catch the keeper out from a long way out, but his shot was well off target.
Devaux gets the ball headed back to him on the edge of the box, but he slices his half-volley well over, and looks disgusted with himself.
Reims are on the attack, but they cannot get through Marseille's defence. They seem pretty acceptant of the fact that they are heading out.
FULL TIME: Marseille 2-0 Reims
Marseille are through, it took extra time, but two goals from Andre-Pierre Gignac settled this match.
That's it from me, I hope you enjoyed the match. Until next time, goodnight.
