Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka has admitted that it was "easy" to sign a contract extension with the club.
The Spaniard, 41, penned a new four-year deal at the Riverside Stadium on Friday.
Karanka guided Boro to the Championship playoff final last season in what was his first full campaign in charge.
"It was, and is a pleasure to sign this new contract," he told the club's official website. "When you are in the place where you want to be and you feel that the people like you, and the club is the best club for me.
"I always said I couldn't be in a better place than I am here so it was easy for me. I was speaking with the chairman and it took us 30 seconds. He knows me and I know him, and I know that I am in the right place with the right people at the right moment."
Boro start the new season away to Preston North End on Sunday.
