Middlesbrough interim manager Mark Venus has called upon Under-21 coach Jamie Clapham to help with first-team matters on a temporary basis.
Venus is currently in charge at the Riverside Stadium after the departure of Tony Mowbray, and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender believes that Clapham can have a positive effort on the squad.
The 46-year-old told the club's official website: "I feel that we needed another set of hands. I know Jamie. He's still learning a little bit but he will help me. Mark Proctor has guided him a little bit as well and I'm pretty comfortable that the training ground is as efficient as we want it to be.
"I think that it's good for the football club that the coaches sometimes go into different areas, coach different players and take different responsibilities."
Venus guided the club to a 4-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in his first match as caretaker boss.
