Middlesbrough have reportedly opened talks with Aston Villa regarding the potential signing of goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
The 31-year-old has made 170 senior appearances for the Midlands outfit since his move from Chivas USA in 2008.
However, it is believed that Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is willing to offload the American shot-stopper, who has one year left on his current contract.
According to Sky Sports News, Boro want Guzan to challenge Tomas Meijas and Dimi Konstantopolous for the number two spot.
Victor Valdes, who moved to the newly-promoted Premier League side on a two-year deal earlier this month, is expected to be first-choice keeper for manager Aitor Karanka.
