Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has rejected calls for winger Yanic Wildschut to be recalled from his loan spell at Wigan Athletic.
The 24-year-old has scored three goals and chalked up three assists in 10 appearances since joining the League One outfit in October, but Karanka insists that he is not tempted to give the player another chance at the Riverside Stadium until the end of his loan spell in Lancashire.
"It is not the same to play for Wigan in League One as it is to play for Middlesbrough in the Championship with the players we have," Karanka told the Evening Gazette. "I think for him it has been important for him to play well and to impress everybody.
"He is playing really well but we have to speak with him and see if the best thing is for him to stay there or to take another step.
"I am pleased with him because he is playing and he's impressing but again it is not a surprise for me because I know him."
Middlesbrough - who currently occupy third place in the Championship table - will take on Huddersfield Town in their next fixture on November 28.
