Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is looking to add "one or two" free agents to his squad.
Boro won their second game of the season at Charlton Athletic but since then have drawn five and lost two, sliding down to 18th in the table.
"It's something that we're trying to address at the moment," Mowbray told BBC Tees. "There are one or two players out of contract who were released from their clubs before the last window shut that we could potentially look at."
Next up for Boro is a home match against Huddersfield Town tomorrow night.
