Middlesbrough have extended Shay Given's loan spell with the club until the end of February.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper had been due to return to his Premier League employers tomorrow.
However, an agreement has now been reached which will see the 37-year-old remain at the Riverside Stadium for an extra two months.
"We are extremely delighted to secure the extension of Shay's loan until the end of February," said Boro's chief executive Neil Bausor.
Given has made seven appearances for Boro since his November arrival.
