Stuart Parnaby has returned to Middlesbrough after five years away from the Riverside.
The defender made 127 appearances during his first stint with Boro before opting to join Birmingham City in 2007.
Having spent the last 12 months without a club, the 29-year-old has now finalised a free transfer back to his boyhood side.
"It's great to be back," he told the club's official website. "I couldn't be happier really.
"I went to Ayresome Park and watched the games there, then followed them at the Riverside and played there of course, so there's only really been four years out of my footballing life where I haven't been a part of the club."
Parnaby has become Boro's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Grant Leadbitter from Ipswich Town.
