Millwall have confirmed that Paris Cowan-Hall is facing an extended stint on the sidelines.
Scans have shown that the 24-year-old suffered a hairline fracture of the tibia and knee ligament damage during Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Reading.
"Paris has already seen one specialist and he will have a second opinion next week before a decision is made on whether surgery will be required to repair the small stabilising ligament," Millwall physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website.
"The alternative, pending the outcome of that decision, is to take a conservative approach and allow the ligament to heal naturally."
Cowan-Hall only joined the Championship strugglers from Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month.
